Phoenix House Texas provides no-cost community harm reduction trainings about opioids and how to administer Naloxone to save a life from overdose. Naloxone is an over the counter medication that can quickly reverse opioid overdose, making it a powerful tool to help save lives from deadly opioids like fentanyl. Training participants will receive free boxes of Naloxone. Harm Reduction: Opioids & Naloxone trainings are provided in Dallas, Travis, and Harris Counties. This training is typically 1 hour long.
This training provides an introduction to Positive Psychology, offering an evidence-based perspective on mental health and critiquing traditional approaches to Psychology and treatment that are typically more problem-focused and pathologizing. Our Positive Psychology & Well-Being training covers the theory and research on happiness and well-being, discussing real-world applications and practical strategies to help individuals cultivate well-being and thrive. This training is offered through our Project Empathy initiative, and is typically 1-2 hours long (depending on the audience’s needs).
This training provides an overview of child development, covering mental health and substance use challenges that today’s youth face, the developing brain and the neuroscience of addiction, common mistakes that parents and educators make when working with youth, and the role and importance of empathy in effective parenting and educating of youth. The Growing Strong Minds: Brain-Based Parenting and Educating in the Age of Addiction training can be tailored to support parents and/or educators. This training is typically 1 hour long.
