Meredith Mullens Meurer, M.A., LPC, LCDC
Program Director at Austin Academy
Meredith Mullens Meurer is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor who began at Phoenix House in January 2013.
Meredith’s passion for counseling and specifically working with adolescents came from her own experience in therapy as a teenager. After seeing several therapists during that time, she began to develop her own sense of what is important when providing care to the adolescent population and knew that she wanted to pursue counseling as a career.
Meredith studied psychology at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor where she received her bachelor’s degree and later pursued a master’s degree in Professional Counseling. Meredith began her career at Phoenix House as a graduate intern, moving into a Counselor position in adolescent and adult outpatient, then as a Residential Counselor for several years as well as serving as Clinical Supervisor for the last 4 years.
As Program Director, Meredith is passionate about creating a healthy and positive treatment experience for all patients and works diligently with the team to ensure that is carried out each day. For many of our patients, Phoenix House is their first experience in a treatment environment, and she recognizes how important a safe, respectful and therapeutic treatment environment is in order to begin the healing process.
When not at work, Meredith enjoys spending time with family, watching the Houston Rockets with her husband, Chris, and is training her pup, Piper, to be a pet therapy dog.
